Selected research & leadership work

  1. Product research

    Pearson · Athens / Global Learning Platform · 2016–2019

    Making the problem-solving process visible

    Contribution
Secured another two and a half weeks of research and coordinated support across GLP teams.
    Scaffolding decision
The additional research informed a decision to break engineering problems into explicit steps rather than ask only for a final answer.
My research leadership described here is specific to Athens.

  2. Interdisciplinary lab leadership

    Boise State University · January 2014–January 2017

Building a lab—and developing its researchers

    Contribution
Built a student research lab and served as PI or Co-PI on funded projects totaling $317,600.
    Team scope
The lab reached a peak of 22 student researchers, averaging approximately six students per semester. Student researchers reported to me; faculty and industry collaborators participated as partners.

  3. Enterprise adoption

    A.T. Still University

From Platform Availability to Platform Adoption

    Contribution
Led sustained enablement efforts to help faculty integrate Canvas into instructional practice.
    Supported result
The share of courses using Canvas features beyond the gradebook increased from approximately 11% in Fall 2021 to 59% in August 2026.
This measure tracked course use of additional Canvas features, including pages, assignment submissions/dropboxes, assignments, discussions, announcements, and modules.

Selected engagement

Evaluating AI-supported instructional decisions

Designed a research protocol to examine how instructional users interpret, validate, and act on AI-generated feedback summaries. The evaluation focuses on calibrated trust, source validation, decision confidence, and instructional actionability.

Initial phase conducted; analysis pending. Additional phases planned. No evaluation findings reported yet.
